I love taking photos

23 July 2016

Hello my pretties (not gonna lie, I just said that in my head like the wicked witch from wizard of OZ).

Today I would like to talk about one of my favorite hobbies, PHOTOGRAPHY. There are so many things I like taking photos of and I would like to show you all my best and most favorite images.

Where it all began...
When I was younger, me and my family went on a steam train for a cute little day out, at Spa Valley Railway in Tunbridge Wells. We had dinner and dessert on this train and this was the day I took my first photo, I believe it was 2009 so I was 12/13 years old. I had hold of my mum and dads Canon G9 camera which isn't a DSLR but it is as good as, and I started taking photos. There were some pretty red flowers in a small vase on each table on the train and I took a couple of photos of them and I was stunned...
This picture was beautiful, I mean they do not look beautiful to me now because I have more experience but at the time I was over the moon at how pretty these pictures came out. That's when I knew I wanted to be a photographer.

My first camera...
I got my first DSLR camera when I was 16. My dads friend sold cameras and she had an old Canon for sale. My granddad was looking at purchasing it as he likes a good camera. He let me test it out and I was so jealous when he actually brought it (poor me). Next thing I knew it was my 16th Birthday and I was given this cute little box decorated by my nanny and was told it was from everyone. I was so confused but I opened it up and there it was, the camera my granddad brought was actually for me! (sneaky!) I was extremely happy and I couldn't thank my family enough!

Studying photography...
I went to college and studied photography for 2 years. It was a level 3 course and I didn't think it would be as hard as it was. It was fun when we got down to the practical side of things like taking and editing photos but the theory was awful. The different types of photography we done was interesting. I enjoyed surreal, portrait and still life. Here are a few images from college..

Car photography...
I love taking photos of cars, it is my number 1 favorite type of photography! I used to go to a few car shows which is where I started taking photos of cars, usually modified. My favorite car images I have taken over the last 3-4 years...

Animal photography...
I only tried this out within the last year or so. I went to a farm near Orpington where my Nan used to take me and my sister as kids to feed the animals (super cute). We took our friend and her son there and I though I'll take my camera and try out some animal photography as I have never done this before.. and I like goats. Some pictures actually came out really good and farm animals pull some very strange face whereas others are very photogenic as you can see...

Nature photography...
This type of photography is also up there in the top 3! I love the colors within flowers, and when edited properly they are so mesmerizing. Nature is an absolute beautiful thing when you stop and look, it's incredible. I love flowers.

Where I am now with photography...
I see photography as more of a hobby now, I mean, I would love to pursue a career within the industry but it is so difficult to get a job in it's unreal. I still enjoy it every now and then but I have slowed down a lot with it since leaving college. I love doing it when I feel anxious or down as it just takes my mind off everything for a while and I can concentrate on just the pictures.

Thank you all for reading xxx

PS. any feed back would be greatly appreciated, on both my photography and blog!!
